• First LTE calls passed Set-up of Trial networks completed, Operators report on their results

MUNICH – First LTE calls successfully passed: LSTI is today pleased to announce the completion of a significant LTE milestone, the Friendly Customer Trials (FCT) milestone M11 test phase. The majority of the operator members of the LTE SAE Trial Initiative (LSTI), a unique global collaboration between vendors and operators, has set-up their Trial networks and successfully passed their first LTE calls. 
 
“We are very happy that we have successfully passed our milestone 11,” explains Rémi Thomas, Director of the LTE/EPC Programme of France Telecom Orange and member of the LSTI Steering Board.”The Friendly Customer Tests are the final stage in testing the technology before it is commercially rolled out. We expect to get our first Radio Access testing results now and we are happy to deliver some early messages about the performance of LTE-EPC at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.”

 
Further testing, notably End to End testing, will continue troughout year 2010.

 
LSTI at the Mobile World Congress: The LTE SAE Trial Initiative will be present at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona. Rémi Thomas and Christian Kuhlins, LSTI Activity Manager IOT, Ericsson AB, will speak at the mobile industry’s biggest event of the year on February 18, 2010 at 3pm in an joint GSMA /NGMN Conference Stream. Rémi Thomas and Christian Kuhlins are happy to discuss with you LTE plans and the future of mobile communications. Furthermore, the majority of the LSTI member will have LTE demonstrations at the event. Among them: Agilent, Alcatel-Lucent, Azimuth Systems, Cisco, Ericsson, NEC, NetHawk, Nokia Siemens Networks, Qualcomm, Rohde & Schwarz, setcom, ST-Ericsson and Tektronix Com.
